The Heroic Garden Festival is a must-see event on many gardeners’ and nature lovers’ calendars, giving attendees exclusive access to some of Auckland’s most prestigious private gardens.

Now in its 22nd year, proceeds from every ticket sold will support Mercy Hospice Auckland’s ongoing work providing essential services free of charge to patients facing life-limiting illness, as well as to their loved ones.

The Heroic Garden Festival originally showcased gay and lesbian-owned gardens as a fundraising event for the Auckland City Mission’s Herne Bay House, a facility that provided care and respite for people living with HIV/AIDS. Following the closure of Herne Bay House, the festival was transferred to support Mercy Hospice Auckland in the same spirit, and has grown to include the gardens of many supporters of Hospice.
